Rajendra Tirtha

Pranaam Mantra of Rajendra Tirtha:

Yoh Apathayat Sa Rajendratirthau Bhuyat Abhishtadah ॥

Introduction:-

Rajendra Tirtha was the first and senior disciple of Vidyanidhi Tirtha. Due to his seniority, scholarship, and deep understanding of shastras, he was engaged as Acharya. From 1388 to 1422 AD, he dedicated himself to the spiritual upliftment of the world.

Disappearance of Sri Vidyanidhi Tirtha:-

Sri Rajendra Tirtha was initiated at Hebilambi. At this time, the Madhva Sampradaya was divided into two sects. An incident took place then. Once, Vidyanidhi Tirtha was at Uttaradi Math. Suddenly he fell sick. Then he expressed his desire to appoint Rajendra Tirtha, one of his chief disciples, as the Acharya. But he recovered within a few days and the ordination ceremony was postponed. After some time Vidyadhiraja Tirtha fell sick again. He realized that his death was near. But Rajendra Tirtha was absent there. Vidyanidhi Tirtha decided to anoint his other disciple, Kavindra Tirtha as the Acharya. In this way, Vidyanidhi Tirtha handed over the entire organization to him and passed away in 1412 AD. He possessed all property of the Matha and the deities which were handed over to Padmanabha Tirtha by Madhvacharya. Thus, the Uttaradi Math became the main organization of Madhva Sampradaya under the presidency of Sri Kavindra Tirtha.

Sri Rajendra Tirtha appeared as Acharya:-

When Sri Rajendra Tirtha returned to Sri Uttaradi Matha, he heard everything. He became very sad at the news of his Guru’s demise. To honor his Guru’s wish, he established a separate Matha in association with his loyal devotees and became the Acharya. In this way, Madhvacharya’s sect was divided into two groups. The succession coming from Sri Rajendra Tirtha is now being run by Vyasaraya Matha and Sosale Matha on behalf of Vyasatirtha.

Rajendra Tirtha perched on Vaishnava theology:-

Sri Rajendra Tirtha conducted a massive campaign all over India to propagate the Vaishnava dharma. That is why he had many disciples in Northern India.
